A New Season is Unfolding

One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.

~ Psalm 145:4

Dear Friends,

I am writing to share some big news.

After serving as the Executive Director of Harmony Women’s Care for 17 years, I believe the time has come to pass the leadership of this organization to the next generation. I will be stepping down at the end of this year.

When I first accepted the role of executive director at Harmony, then CareNet-RI, I never could have imagined where this journey would lead. It has been a joy to witness the growth and impact of this community-supported ministry. We went from a tiny rented space in a strip mall in Cranston to a thriving medical clinic on North Main Street in Providence. Now we are preparing to open a second clinic in East Providence.

Our team has grown from 3 to 10 staff members, including 4 nurses. Each milestone has been made possible by a dedicated staff, faithful church partners, generous supporters, and countless individuals and businesses who believe women deserve compassionate, high-quality care when facing unexpected pregnancies. I am deeply grateful for the privilege of serving alongside all of you.

About 18 months ago, I began to sense that a leadership transition might be on the horizon. Together with the board and members of Harmony’s leadership team, we entered a thoughtful season of discernment about the future of the organization. We sought wise counsel, spent time in prayer and reflection, and carefully considered the qualities needed in Harmony’s next leader. Through that process, we reached complete unity in our decision.

It is my absolute delight to announce that the next Executive Director of Harmony Women’s Care will be Jessica Picillo.

Jessica has been a key part of our team for the past 10 years. She spearheaded our transition to a medical clinic and, as Nurse Manager and later Clinic Director, hired and trained our medical team, collaborated closely with our medical directors, and oversaw all clinical and safety requirements. She was responsible for the entire patient experience, ensuring excellence at every stage of care.

Under her leadership, our staff expanded both their impact and their ability to serve women well. During the past decade, we have shared hope, support, and practical resources with more than 1,500 women, and nearly 900 women chose to continue their pregnancies after receiving services at Harmony. These are extraordinary accomplishments that reflect the dedication and compassion of our entire team.

For the past year, Jessica has served as our Director of Operations, expanding her responsibilities to include financial and administrative oversight in addition to clinic operations. She promoted and trained our new Nurse Manager, implemented our 24-hour nurse chat service, facilitated ultrasound training for two of our nurses, and is overseeing the expansion into East Providence.

Beyond her impressive accomplishments, Jessica brings exceptional leadership, wisdom, and vision. She has a deep commitment to our mission, a thoughtful approach to decision-making, and a strong faith that guides her leadership. We believe she is the right person to lead Harmony into its next chapter.

With the support of our incredible staff, medical director, board of directors, C12 board, volunteers, and community partners, I am confident that Harmony will continue to thrive for generations to come.

So, what’s next for me?

After nearly two decades at the helm of this amazing organization, I plan to spend more time with my wonderful husband and family, enjoy being a doting Gramma to my new grandson, Oliver, and take some time to rest, reflect, and recharge. I have no doubt that another chapter lies ahead, but for now I am looking forward to embracing this season and remaining open to whatever comes next.

I want to thank each of you for the role you have played in this incredible journey. Together, we have accomplished so much for women and families in our community. It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life to serve alongside you.

Thank you for continuing to stand with the women we serve and for helping ensure that Harmony’s mission remains strong for years to come. May you be blessed as you continue this important work.

With gratitude and love,

Rachel
